Dr. Brittany Powell, M.D., FACS, is a distinguished vitreoretinal surgeon with over a decade of expertise in treating retinal diseases and ocular trauma. As a Vitreoretinal Surgeon and Clinical Faculty member at Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD), she combines advanced retinal care with her commitment to training the next generation of ophthalmologists in innovative surgical techniques.
Dr. Powell earned her medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and completed both her ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowship at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai. Her career has been marked by leadership in key military medical programs, including the Warfighter Refractive Surgery Program and various quality improvement initiatives. Currently, as Regional Lead for the Ocular Trauma Center, she oversees policies and programs to enhance eye care for Department of Defense beneficiaries and veterans, addressing complex ocular conditions with precision and compassion.
Beyond her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Powell is passionate about the arts, maintains an active lifestyle through regular fitness, and contributes to global health initiatives aimed at expanding access to retinal care worldwide.
