Brittany Powell, M.D., FACS

Dr. Brittany (Bree) Powell is an ophthalmologist with specialized expertise in the medical and surgical diseases of the vitreous and retina. Dr. Powell completed an ophthalmology residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego and a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai in New York City.

Dr. Powell is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, the American Society of Ophthalmic Trauma, and the American College of Surgeons.

She has authored book chapters and original scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals such as Ophthalmology Retina, Eye, and Clinical Ophthalmology and has presented her research at national and international meetings. She is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists’ Education Committee and the American Society of Ophthalmic Trauma’s Board of Directors.

Dr. Powell and her husband enjoy staying active and are avid Tar Heel basketball fans.
