The iStent inject Trabecular Micro-bypass is used during cataract surgery to help cataract patients also control their open-angle glaucoma. The insertion of 2 tiny stents, placed into the trabecular meshwork of the eye, creates two pathways for fluid to escape from the eyes. You won’t be able to feel or see the stents in the eyes.
A tiny tube, the length of an eyelash, is inserted under the clear membrane that covers the white of the eye to create a small channel that allows fluid to drain. The soft, flexible tube stays in your eye permanently. This is intended for patients with open-angle glaucoma.
This treatment makes it easier to identify where blockages are occurring by targeting 3 common areas of resistance: the trabecular meshwork, the Schlemm’s canal and collector channels. Using two MIGS procedures in one device (canaloplasty and trabeculotomy) this process can lower eye pressure. This is intended for patients with open-angle glaucoma.
A small implant is placed into your eye to release medication aimed at reducing eye pressure. It will naturally dissolve and it can work for up to 15 weeks. This is intended for patients with open-angle glaucoma. If you have been diagnosed with glaucoma and are searching for treatment options, please contact us to schedule an eye exam.
